A chemical skin peel can be utilized to promote a youthful appearance, maintain healthy skin and prevent chronic skin issues.
Basic Benefits of a Chemical Peel include:
- Improves skin tone, texture and over all appearance
- Minimizes fine lines, dark spots and scars
- Brightens dull, blotchy and uneven complexion
- Dissolves blackheads, kills bacteria and controls acne
- Stimulates collagen and elastin production for firmer skin
- Fades discolouration due to sun damage, hormones and scarring
The function of a chemical face peel is to create an even and controlled exfoliation of several layers of damaged skin cells. The process exposes a fresh layer of skin improving skin tone and texture in addition to removing old, weathered, and damaged skin cells. Peels can smooth skin texture, remove pigmentation, remove wrinkles, tighten the skin, and improve scars. The depth of a peel is chosen depending upon the depth of the problem to be improved. The deeper the peel, the more improvement and the more recovery time
We offer four different strengthened peels, these are:
The Jessner peel has salicylic , resorcinol, and lactic acid as its active ingredients. It is extremely safe and one of the more effective "superficial" peels. This peel diminishes lines, reduces pore size, evens skin tone, and smooth's texture. Jessner’s peels have relatively little downtime - normally flaky skin will last from day 4-6.
AHA Peel (Lightening)
The AHA chemical peel (also known as glycolic peel) is the mildest form of peeling. The treatment affects the top layer of the skin and has very few side effects. AHA works by dissolving the outermost layers of skin therefore encouraging cell turnover and bringing new, healthy cells to the surface. Using an AHA can help to promote a smoother, brighter, more even skin tone, soften fine lines, minimize pores and reduce hyperpigmentation. An AHA peel is not strong enough to effectively treat actual wrinkles, scars, or pigmentation, but after repeated treatments, it can make the skin smoother and tighter, thereby giving it a younger look.
A TCA peel is most commonly used for:
TCA is a non-toxic chemical (trichloracetic acid), which has been used to perform skin peels for over 20 years. When TCA is applied to the skin, it causes the top layers of cells to dry up and peel off over a period of several days to one week. When the old skin is peeled off, it exposes a new layer of undamaged skin, which has a smoother texture and more even colour. A TCA peel is not suitable for darker skin types and has a longer downtime of the three peels (from 7-14 days)
A BHA chemcial skin peel results in a smoother and more even complexion and is ideal for the oily acne skin types. Your skin will feel softer, look smoother, with improved texture and tone and reduced hyperpigmentation (sun damage). Those are the differences on the surface of your skin. Most people will begin to notice some improvement immediately, but a full course of peels (8-10 peels) are needed to see optimal results.
